Well, the SharePoint Best Practices (BP) conference held in San Diego came to a close this week. The conference was dedicated to Best Practices and governance around SharePoint solutions; something that most IT Managers start thinking about after their SharePoint implementation receives a poor uptake or heads spiralling for disaster. There are so many approach considerations while thinking about your SharePoint solution during the envisioning – some that I’ve been working on lately and will share soon in the future. About a year or two ago I recall reading an article talking about the failure rate of SharePoint projects and poor user adoption leading to some negative publicity about the product. All this because of poor planning. So many factors can influence your failure and planning is critical to make SharePoint the Hub of Collaboration in your enterprise/business. Develop less and plan more!
So today I read Joel Oelson's blog who presented at the SharePoint Best Practices Conference. In his recent blog post, he shares his slide decks from his presentation – you gotta go through them if you care for the success of SharePoint solution! :-)
Check them here:
Or go directly to his blog post and check out the other BP adventures. Thanks Joel!
Also, if you’re interested in BP: Bill English and Ben Curry also released a SharePoint Best Practices book. Looks like a great read... something next in my basket.
